January 10, 2014
Hyderabad

Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said on Friday that the government will place the Telangana Bill in Parliament as soon as it receives from the State Assembly and it would be passed.

Speaking to press, Shinde said that 'I am very much confident that the Bill will be passed. The President has referred it to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. We are awaiting the report. Once the Bill comes to us, we will place it before Parliament', he said.

Digvijay denies

AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh denied that he said there would be no voting on the Bill in the Assembly. Responding to press, he said that if he was summoned by the Ste Assembly for alleged breach of privilege by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), he was ready to appear before the House and give clarifications. He said 'I am a democratic person. I can apologise to the Assembly if they feel I have said anything wrong'.

It may be recalled here that the TDP claimed that Digvijay through his remark that there would be no voting on the Bill committed breach of members' privileges while Digvijay clarified that that he only called for debated on the Bill as in the absence of debate, members would lose an opportunity to express their views.
