TRS and BJD disrupts Lok Sabha

June 10, 2014
New Delhi

The 16th Lok Sabha on Monday witnessed disruption from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on its fourth day.

The action came immediately when the union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Santosh Gangwar tabled the AP State Reorganization (Amendment) Ordinance, 2014 that relates the transfer of seven mandals of the Bhadrachalam revenue divisions encompassing 205 villages and tribal hamlets to Andhra Pradesh for execution of Polavaram project. BJD member B Mahtab sought to raise a point of order when TRS members trooped into the well shouting slogans.

The Speaker Sumitra Mahajan’s request to raise their protest when it comes for discussion was of no use. Her efforts to pacify them was of no use.

Polavaram ordinance is the first action of Narendra Modi after Telangana State came into existence on June 2. The Government has to take the ordinance as the trooped transfer was not part of the AP Reorganization Bill approved by Parliament.
