March 14, 2014

Congress party headquarters of the State Gandhi Bhavan is going back to Telangana Congress Committee after a gap of 58 years.

The Andhra Pradesh State Congress Committee will function from Indira Bhavan building on the Gandhi Bhavan premises from Saturday. It is known that the Congress high command had created two Pradesh Congress Committees (PCCs) for Telangana and Seemandhra recently.

Initially, it is thought that APCC office would function from the present old building and TPCC would shift to the new building but was retained following objections from Telangana Congress leaders.

APCC general secretary G Niranjan, the foundation of Gandhi Bhavan was laid on October 7, 1950 by Union Minister Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel and the building was inaugurated by the then President Rajendra Prasad on July 8, 1956 and Hyderabad State Congress used to function from the building run by Gandhi Bhavan Trust. After formation of the State on November 1, 1956, the party affairs were given to APCC by Hyderabad State Congress and after nearly 58 years, it is going back to Telangana PCC.
