Ban of mobile phones in educational institutions

January 6, 2015
Hyderabad

The Telangana Government has banned the use of mobile phones in all educational institutions in the State. Neither students nor teachers are allowed the use of cell phones in classrooms. The orders has been issued by the Commissioner of school education on December 31, 2014 based on the recommendation by the committee on Safety and Security of Women and Girls in Telangana. The Commissioner further asked the district education officers and regional joint director of school education to implement the instructions.

The ban of mobile phones has received mixed reactions from the public. While some felt that the mobile phones create diversion to the students, others felt that not every student misuses the phones. The TS United Teachers' Federation district general secretary, A Venkat welcomed the move.
