2012 All-party meet on Telangana Issue

The Centre has convened an all-party meeting to discuss the Telangana statehood issue on December 28, 2012. The meeting is convened by the Union Home Ministry. This is the third all-party meeticonvened on the Telangana issue. The previous meetings were held on January 5, 2010 and January 6, 2011.

Nine political parties from the state have been invited to the all-party meeting. Invitations were sent to Congress, Telugu Desam Party, Telangana Rashtra Samithi, CPI, CPI(M), MIM, YSR Congress Party, BJP and Lok Satta. The political parties are asked to send two representatives to the meeting.

The meeting was held on December 28, 2012 at 10am in the North Block, New Delhi.

Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has asked the Centre to postpone the meeting as it would coincide with the World Telugu Conference that is held on December 28. However, the request was rejected and Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said that meeting would go on as scheduled.

The all-party meeting on Telangana issue started at the North Block in New Delhi at 10 am. Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde will address a press conference after the meeting.
