Bandaru Dattatreya

Bandaru Dattatreya is a Union Minister of State with Independent charge. He is a senior politician belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh. In November 2014, he was inducted into the Union Cabinet making him the first Union Minister from the newly formed Telangana State.

Dattatreya was elected as Member of Parliament from Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency four times. Earlier, he served as a Union Minister in the government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.Bandaru Dattatreya began his political career as a member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He was a pracharak before joining the BJP.

2014 Elections

Dattatreya won the Secunderabad parliamentary constituency in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Minister of State with Independent Charge

On 9 November 2014, Bandaru Dattatreya was sworn in as Minister of State with independent charge. He is the firt Minister from Telangana to be inducted into the Union Cabinet. Dattatreya while thanking the Prime Minister Modi for reposing faith in him, said he would work for the interests of all Telugu people, both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
