Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University is a University in Hyderabad that focusses on Engineering. IT was founded in 1965 as Nagarjuna Sagar Engineering College and was established as a university in 1972 under the The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Act, 1972. In 2008, the University was split into four universities, Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada.

JNTU, Hyderabad has about 500 colleges affiliated to it. Of these about 300 are engineering colleges.

The police control room in Hyderabad received a bomb threat call from an unidenitified caller who said he overheard a few passersby talking of a bomb in the university. The control room alerted Kukatpally Housing Board police who thoroughly checked the university campus. The police couldn't find any explosive substances on the campus. May 7, 2014

IAS officer Sailaja Ramayyar is appointed the incharge Vice-Chancellor of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad. Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy has issued the necessary directives to this effect. Nov 9, 2014
