Nagam Janardhan Reddy was a former politician of the Telugu Desam Party and was a former leader of the TD Telangana Forum and served as a Minister from 1995 to 2004.
Personal Profile
Janardhan Reddy was born on May 22, 1948 to Nagam Venkata Reddy and Narayanamma in Nagar Kurnool of Mahabubnagar. He completed his MBBS at Osmania Medical College and practiced medicine for a while before entering politics. He is married to Suguna and has two sons and a daughter.
Politics
Nagam Janardhan Reddy was first elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly as MLA representing Nagar Kurnool constituency in 1978. He was re-elected as MLA six times after that. Janardhan Reddy also served as convener of the Telugu Desam Telangana Forum.
Nagam Janardhan Reddy has resigned to his MLA post on July 15, 2011 which was rejected by the Speaker. He has tendered his resignation again on July 24, 2011 stating that he has resigned voluntarily.
Once a staunch loyalist of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, Nagam was suspended from the Telugu Desam Party after differences between him and the other TDP leaders from Telangana region grew. He quit the Telugu Desam Party along with K Harishwar Reddy, Jogu Ramanna and S Venugopalachary on September 9, 2011. He floated a new outfit '''Telangana Nagara Samithi''' in September 2011 to continue fighting for the separate statehood of Telangana. His resignation was accepted by the speaker on November 12, 2011.
2012 Nagarkurnool by-election
Nagam Janardhan Reddy won the Nagarkurnool by-election defeating his nearest Congress rival Kuchakulla Damodar Reddy by a margin of 27,325 votes. Nagam received 71,001 votes.
