By Election counting process to begin from 8am on July 30
As there is no need for re-poll in any part of the 12 constituencies in the Telangana region that went to polls on Tuesday, the EC announced that the counting of votes will commence on July 30 at 8am as scheduled. Chief Electoral Officer, IV Subba Rao who reviewed the arrangements for counting of votes with the District Collectors on Wednesday said that the first result was expected to be announced in three hours by 11am while the last result by 6pm.
EC secured the final polling percentage for all the constituencies from the District Collectors concerned. The overall percentage was 66.67 as against 66.32 per cent in 2009 elections. In the final scrutiny through the overall percentage did not vary much, there was considerable difference in final poll percentage of some constituencies. He said that all the strong rooms where the EVMs and ballot boxes were kept safely after the polling were provided with CCTVs with monitors kept outside for the polling agents to keep a watch.
IV Subba Rao said that the entire process would be recorded and every counting centre would have a media and data centre from where the information would be fed every hour. No mobile phones would be allowed inside the counting centres, he added.
