KCR discharged from NIMS
Telangana Rashtra Samithi Chief K Chandrasekhara Rao (KCR) has been discharged from the National Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad today. He, along with his family and supporters, went straight to his house in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.
KCR who wanted to launch a fast-undo-death demanding a separate Telangana state was arrested on his way to Siddipet in Medak district. He was produced in a court in Khammam district and was sent to judicial custody for 14 days. However, KCR launched his fast in jail. He was admitted to a hospital in Khammam the next day. On December 3, 2009, KCR was shifted to NIMS Hyderabad as his health further deteriorated. With increasing protests all over the Telangana region and especially by students in the Osmania University campus, the government withdrew all cases against KCR. A series of high level meetings followed and the Union Government has announced on the mid night of December 9th that they will initiate the process of creating a separate Telengana state. KCR finally broke the fast the same night. A series of resignations by MLAs and MLCs of various political parties followed forcing TRS to demand an immediate introduction of Bill in Parliament.
